LED Lighting for Supermarkets & Grocery Stores
We eat with our eyes – long before anything lands in the trolley. Whether you run a full-range supermarket, an organic market or a bakery, the right supermarket lighting makes produce look crisp, meat look fresh and bread look golden. AVA TECH designs and installs LED food lighting that presents your merchandise appetisingly and noticeably cuts energy costs. From Berlin and Munich to Hamburg and Stuttgart, we work for food retailers across Germany.
Professional Supermarket Lighting that Shows Freshness
In food retail, light is a sales tool. Well-planned grocery store lighting guides customers from the entrance to the checkout, keeps them in the store longer and draws attention to fresh produce and promotions. The biggest effect comes from the interplay of even ambient lighting that creates orientation and targeted accents that lift individual product groups. We always plan from the range outwards – your lighting is tailored to your floor, your departments and your customers.
Energy-Efficient LED Food Lighting
No light source works as economically as LED – and none shows food as truthfully. Good LED food lighting underlines the real colours of your merchandise instead of flattering them: a high colour rendering index (CRI ≥ 90) keeps tomatoes truly red and meat looking fresh. There is a second advantage you only notice on closer inspection: LED emits hardly any heat and virtually no UV or infrared radiation. Older lamps make packaged meat sweat and cause condensation inside the packaging; modern LED is gentle on the product, keeps it presentable longer and cuts electricity consumption sharply.
Accent & Promotional Lighting
The customer’s eye follows the light. With targeted accent lighting we lift promotional islands, gondola ends and seasonal displays out of the sales floor and create contrasts that work in passing. The right measure matters: for delicate fresh food we deliberately keep illuminance moderate – around 1,000 lux at most for meat – so the presentation never harms shelf life. Good light sells without straining the product.
LED Spotlights for Your Market
Spotlights are the most flexible tool in the store. Our LED spotlights can be aimed precisely, so the light lands exactly where it works – on the produce island at the entrance, at the counter or on this week’s promotion. If the placement changes, the spotlight simply moves. For product groups with special requirements we use spotlights with dedicated food spectra rather than lighting the whole floor with one standard solution.

Track Systems & Light Lines
For large floors and changing ranges we rely on three-circuit track systems and LED light lines. On the track, spotlights can be moved, added or swapped for a different light colour – ideal when the fresh counter grows or a department relocates. LED light lines provide calm, even general lighting along the aisles.
Ceiling & General Lighting
General lighting is the foundation of your market. At the entrance, first impressions count, so we plan bright and glare-free. In the aisles, even ceiling light creates orientation and prevents dark zones; at the checkout it creates comfortable conditions for customers and staff alike. Only on this calm base do the accents on your product groups develop their full effect.
The Right Light Colour for Each Product Group

Fresh Counters & Display Lighting
The fresh counter is where lighting design proves itself. Our display lighting combines ceiling-mounted spotlights with integrated counter light and gives every product group its own light colour – meat, cheese and fish often sit a metre apart yet need different light. Glare-free optics make sure neither your customers nor your staff behind the counter are dazzled.

FAQ
Which light colour suits meat and deli products?
A warm, slightly reddish light colour. It deepens the natural red while keeping the fat visibly white. Avoid cool white here – it makes the product look pale and unappetising.
How bright should supermarket lighting be?
It depends on the zone. For delicate fresh food such as meat we deliberately stay moderate (up to around 1,000 lux). More important than sheer brightness is high colour rendering (CRI ≥ 90), so colours stay natural.
Can lighting damage food?
Older lamps with high heat and UV output can – they make packaged meat sweat and cause condensation. Modern LED emits hardly any heat and is far gentler on delicate products.
How much energy does LED food lighting save?
Compared with fluorescent or halogen technology, LED cuts the lion's share of lighting electricity. As refrigeration and lighting are the biggest energy consumers in food retail, the conversion usually pays for itself quickly.
Does AVA TECH handle installation as well?
Yes. Design, supply, installation and commissioning come from a single source – on request during off-peak hours, so your market can stay open.
